Only one leg to stand on...

Because the other one's broke.

OUCH!! Ye GODS did that hurt!! I was at the dog park yesterday, and was standing around talking (not paying attention to where the pup was) when out of nowhere my 65 lb boxer comes barreling full speed into my right knee. I almost passed out - but I stayed standing!! I then spent the next 8 hours in the ER. I have what's called a "rt tibial plateau fracture" or is more commonly known as a knee fracture. At this point surgery is a probable no - but I'll know more on Friday.

It hurts.

We live in a 2-story rowhouse, about 12 steps up from the street, and with the one working bathroom on the 2nd floor.

My doc says potentially 10-12 weeks of taking NO weight on that foot.

I can no longer say I've never broken a bone.

sigh. So much for yoga class. Or job hunting. yeesh. Do know I'll probably be blogging a bit more!!!

Yeah, I guess size DOES matter in this case...a smaller dog might not have BROKEN MY LEG!!!!

Oh my GOD. When I saw your post title I thought it was just a catchy lead-in. Are you OK? If I were in DC I'd bring you...uh, something?...but from here I can only give TV recommendations. I don't know what TNT does during the daytime now, but during both my maternity leaves they ran episodes of Charmed and ER all.the.time.

Hey Anithe...yeah, I haven't quite made it down stairs to perch in front of the TV yet. I think tomorrow I shall begin the addiction. TNT still runs Charmed, ER, and Judging Amy, to my knowledge....As for the leg - it actually doesn't hurt much today. Except when I move it a bit too suddenly. I AM getting pretty good with my crutches, but pup is quite curious about them...

Holy crap! That really sucks. I'm sorry to hear about your leg. I guess that falls into the category of "bad stuff" that happens, huh? Well, on the bright side: um . . . uhhhhhhh, well there's always . . . You know it pretty much just sucks. Sorry, but I couldn't think of anything cheery to say. At any rate, you should use this as an excuse to sit on the sofa and watch a LOT of infomercials. You'd be amazed at how entertaining they can be if you've had a six pack or two. ;)

Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry. I'm telling you... those ranch homes in the suburbs are sounding pretty good about now, aren't they? No stairs to travel! Just kidding.

So far, Max has kept his lumbering 95+ lb. body from slamming into breakable parts. But I was completely mowed down by a large German Shepherd when I was a teen. I was crouched down in the middle of the yard, picking something up and our dog -- actually with detached retinas -- decided he needed to get to the other side of the yard in a hurry. And plowed right into me. After the stars cleared from my head, I looked at the dog and still, to this day, don't know who was more startled.

Again, my best wishes for a speedy (as much as doc will allow) recovery. It's gonna be a rough journey, but use the time to sit and do some more creative blogging. It's good to see more of your posts -- even if it's sometimes not-so-good news.

Oh for goodness sakes! I'm so sorry to hear about your knee!

I wouldn't guarantee a smaller dog would keep you from breaking your leg - since living with Phoebe, our anchor butt foster, I've found it's like running into a brick wall at ankle height!

Now...get yourself a copy of "The Secret" and read it from a Pagan view and see how this seeming misfortune can be turned to your benefit!

*hugs*
